A vintage celebration

One thing I love with this job is we get to see such a huge variety of hotels, B&B's, private houses and just generally some gorgeous places! The bride stayed the night before at the Admiral's House which is a stunning Georgian House bang in the middle of Bath, but anyway enough about houses, let's talk flowers.....

The Bride had a bouquet of Illusion roses, with beautifully scented freesia, some ivory avalanche roses helped set the soft pinks off and a small amount of the palest pink bouvardia.

The ceremony was at Priston mill. For the reception we filled the cream jugs with hydrangea, roses and some gorgeous pale peach stocks (which are now nearly my favourite)

All around I'd say it was quite the celebration!!

Magical summer days....

Finally the summer seems to be here, we had a fabulous weekend of weddings, started off by this gorgeous ceremony at Priston Mill! 

The colour palette was soft ivory and palest pink with some gorgeous vintage roses called 'dreamland'. 

The venue looked fabulous as organza has been elegantly draped across the balcony and gold silk sashes had been wrapped around the chairs!! 

It was lovely to see Sandra Monger in action too with the velvety quilted cake she had created! I loved the cute little lovebirds that sat on the top. She is one clever lady!

The last hurrah..

It was four days before Christmas and this literally was the last hurrah and we loved it.
The smell of spruce, eucalyptus and rosemary was wafting around Priston Mill and I don't think it could have got more wintry if it tried!
All you need is one marvellous Bride with brilliant taste in flowers, one slightly madcap bunch of florists a very very good cake maker & voila....

An apple a day....

Well, I'm sitting at my very untidy desk eating a bit of leftover sausage-roll from here and have a nice mug of herbal tea on the go. The sun is shining and  I'm all prepared to write!I can't believe October is here and as much as we British do moan about the weather, I can't help loving the crisp Autumn mornings and warm jumpers, building log fires and generally sleeping lots *wishful thinking*!

I did promise a selection of photos from one of our Summer Brides and  here they are! Rachael (the Bride) sent through a beautiful selection of photos from her day and I've been dying to show them to you all!

The bouquet had a very elegant and modern feel to it, though a touch rustic with the hessian tie on the stems.

The flowers were a selection of creamy avalanche roses, gorgeous ivory cymbidium orchids, green 'chartreuse' roses, guelder roses (vibernum opulus-for those in the know) and bear-grass loops. 

The wedding ceremony & reception were held in the Tythe Barn at Priston Mill. The barn is a fantastic venue as the high ceilings give the space a very airy feeling! Plus lovely tall table arrangements like Rachael had work like a dream!

Our wedding day turned out to be all we hoped for and more; the sun shined all day long! The planning seemed to go smoothly with us doing lots some weeks and nothing the next. Young Blooms were recommended to us by a friend and they didn't disappoint. A bright Irish green was our colour theme and we were happy to give Grace & Laura free reign on what flowers to use; they are the experts after all  We googled lots of the flowers after our initial meeting and were happy with the choice. We originally wanted limes in the vases and only added the idea of apples a few weeks prior to our big day. We were really pleased that they decided to use rustic apples as opposed to Granny Smiths; the end result was wonderful! We thought our venue had the 'wow factor' on the day and much of this was due to the flowers. Thanks again ladies!

Glorious review

Now, it is actually quite comical that I'm reviewing Young Blooms summer of weddings when we have just been forecast the hottest two weeks of sun yet to be experienced! We have seen the whole scope over the last couple of months! Everything from hale-storms to thunderstorms, torrential rain to blinding sunshine!!

Enough of the weather, lets talk Brides, flowers and truly fabulous moments!! There have been some gorgeous weddings and this one was no exception. Held at truly quirky venue in Bath, the couple then dashed off for a sumptuous reception at the Guildhall!

The Bride emailed later to say....

"I wanted to write and thank you for our incredible wedding flowers - they were beyond perfect."

We loved creating the table-centre's with more delicious cottage garden roses and wrapped in pearls! They were a real talking point!

There have been some lovely moments when setting up weddings and the photographer arrives and it's none other than this lovely lady.I was scrolling through some of her photographs and they just make me sigh!! As you can see below she makes our flowers look truly glorious.

I loved making this bouquet, with the bright pink celosia and scabious seed heads! The contrast of the velvety grand prix roses gave the whole design a bit glamour.

Another lovely email arrived from one of our Brides saying..

"Just wanted to say a massive thank you for our wedding flowers! I really loved them on the day and this is only highlighted in the photographs that we got to see yesterday."

Her wedding was at Priston Mill on a blinding hot summer's day! The table-centre's were great fun to construct as we filled tall glass vases with limes and apples (thank-fully the orchard behind my house was obliging)

The vases were filled with guelder roses and elegant double headed lisianthus. The green & ivory roses gave it a clean and fresh look.

One final moment of delight was this lovely card below which arrived rather perfectly on a  Monday morning! (Very good time for a card to arrive)
