Monday

Now I know this is not flower related in the slightest, but I couldn't resist! My nephew turned five last Monday and announced that he wanted a dragon cake for this birthday - Ala Narnia style?? Well, I realise this one doesn't look remotely scary and maybe a little tipsy but I had great fun making him and he was very well received by the small people!

Tuesday

No who couldn't fail to like this photo! It could almost belong in the pages of vogue if I do say so myself. It was another Summer wedding though I don't think they were as lucky with the weather. The Bride had a very elegant bouquet of ivory avalanche roses & Sweet avalanche roses which are a peachy colour.







Wednesday

I think as a bouquet this sits on it's own. I absolutely love the colour clash and think its very elegant! I had a lot of conversations with the Bride & Groom about whether we should add anything to the bouquet and in the end she decided not too which I really glad about!

Calla lilies are so beautiful by themselves and certainly are all about making a statement if you choose too!

Thursday

The one thing I can remember about this wedding was the weather! I think the couple were incredibly lucky in that they got one of the very few beautiful summer days! We received these photos recently and I'm hoping to do a whole feature on the wedding with some thoughts from the Bride herself so watch this space....

I love the clean and fresh look that the flowers have! The bouquet was a mixture of orchids, roses and green guelder roses!

Friday
Now you need not fret, I haven't produced a baby without telling anyone! Still I couldn't resist adding this to the collection. Friends of mine of twins last week they were premature ~ they were unsurprisingly teeny tiny but still delightfully gorgeous! I got to feed one of them and I don't see how anyone can not feel broody doing that! *thinks about getting a dog*  I visited them at Bath RUH in the neonatal unit! It's a jolly impressive place and donated by the very lovely Mr Dyson! Gold star to him....



Saturday

I absolutely love this Bridal bouquet, so simple and yet stunning! Similar to the calla bouquet above I think the beauty of this style is the use of one type of flower only!

For the reception the Bride had collected a whole selection of vintage jugs and vases which we filled with mini sunflowers, ivory stocks, queen anne lace and thistles.

Erdem SS13

It's London Fashion Week and as I was perusing the LFW website and came across a short bio of the designer Erdem. He quoted his signatures as 'colour, optimism & oddities'  Liked this rather fabulous description as it made me wonder how I would describe Young Blooms Signature?? Saying that I checked out his pre-collection SS13  and fell across this divine dress! Bridal?? Bridesmaid??

Imagine a gorgeous teardrop bouquet of ivory orchids against that! Absolutely stunning I think as you will see below.

This was done for a wedding in the summer, the bride wanted a compact yet elegant style. She chose the orchids as her signature for the day with her Groom having one for his buttonhole.

These photographs were took by James Green from pure love wedding photography We love his style and feel, very elegant and chic!

The bride chose a dress from one of my favourite bridal shops which is just down the road from us. Their dresses are truly divine and don't get me started on the shoes...... (very strokable Rachel Simpson shoes is all I'll say)

Finishing off this wedding at the Guildhall in Bath the Bride chose a very fresh look for the tables with large glass cubes which were filled to the brim with soft ivory roses and purple lisianthus. Simple & delicate was the order of the day!

Glorious review

Now, it is actually quite comical that I'm reviewing Young Blooms summer of weddings when we have just been forecast the hottest two weeks of sun yet to be experienced! We have seen the whole scope over the last couple of months! Everything from hale-storms to thunderstorms, torrential rain to blinding sunshine!!

But hey....

Enough of the weather, lets talk Brides, flowers and truly fabulous moments!! There have been some gorgeous weddings and this one was no exception. Held at truly quirky venue in Bath, the couple then dashed off for a sumptuous reception at the Guildhall!

The Bride emailed later to say....

"I wanted to write and thank you for our incredible wedding flowers - they were beyond perfect."

We loved creating the table-centre's with more delicious cottage garden roses and wrapped in pearls! They were a real talking point!

There have been some lovely moments when setting up weddings and the photographer arrives and it's none other than this lovely lady.I was scrolling through some of her photographs and they just make me sigh!! As you can see below she makes our flowers look truly glorious.

I loved making this bouquet, with the bright pink celosia and scabious seed heads! The contrast of the velvety grand prix roses gave the whole design a bit glamour.

Another lovely email arrived from one of our Brides saying..

"Just wanted to say a massive thank you for our wedding flowers! I really loved them on the day and this is only highlighted in the photographs that we got to see yesterday."

Her wedding was at Priston Mill on a blinding hot summer's day! The table-centre's were great fun to construct as we filled tall glass vases with limes and apples (thank-fully the orchard behind my house was obliging)

The vases were filled with guelder roses and elegant double headed lisianthus. The green & ivory roses gave it a clean and fresh look.

One final moment of delight was this lovely card below which arrived rather perfectly on a  Monday morning! (Very good time for a card to arrive)

I couldn't resist adding this photo in, only because we all
fell in love with the roses! These were the gorgeous Colombian roses called 'baronesse'. Alas they have no scent but their style is pure cottage garden!




















Tuesday

Now don't all fall over in shock but this lovely man (who of course is my husband) waltzed into the house on Tuesday afternoon with a rather gorgeous bunch of flowers! No reason other than to treat me, I was quite proud of him cause as he told me the florist who had served in presumed he had no knowledge of flowers.....

Seriously!! He is well trained and knows his peony from his hydrangea!

Anyway the delightful lady was told that 'my wife is a florist' which I think puts the fear of God into any florist and home he came with this glorious bunch!

You can imagine Tuesday was a good day!



Wednesday

Colour is always an interesting choice, I know it's not Autumn yet but why not celebrate late summer colour! We used peach avalanche roses against the very vibrant sunflower and thought it worked quite well for a bit of rustic charm!

Thursday

There is an old style elegance to this wedding venue! I like to think it has a huge history, with lots of character and charm! The Brides choice was elegant arum lilies, blowsy ivory roses with cottage garden herbs! We used fresh mint wherever possible and the smell was just glorious!



Friday

Friday was Friday and certainly full of flowers! I absolutely loved these fabulous creations! Full of gorgeous peach avalanche roses, late summer delphinium and luxurious amaranthus! They certainly were a talking point for all.

Saturday




What can I say about Saturday apart from I had a sneaky day off! My fabulous business and bestist sister-in-law manned the fort and I went for Brunch to one of my favourite places. What can I say.....














Sunday

This says it all, Sunday has to be about sleeping, having lots of coffee, Sunday papers, seeing friends! Though also hanging out here in the morning!! Its good stuff.

It is incredible these days how much inspiration there is on the web for planning your great day! I have my top five blogs that I love to catch up on, I keep an eye on what people and other businesses are doing on twitter and I love to check facebook and to see whats happening!


 The rather fabulous thing is that you can keep an eye on us and see what we are up too! A glorious haze of flowers...

I'm so proud of the work that is put into each wedding that we do, starting with an early morning run to market, the flowers are brought back and conditioned, sunk deep into water they have a nice long drink before we begin to put them into arrangements. Whether it's bridal bouquets or table-centre's we defiantly pride ourselves on making sure the flowers are in tip top condition for the big day! 


But enough of that and let me tell about this glorious summer wedding!


Nestled in the fabulous grounds of Homewood park was the marquee we were set to decorate! The bride provided huge amounts of inspiration for us of what she wanted to create for the day! The palette of soft pinks, vibrant blues and delicate ivory was a perfect combination to set the scene for a blissful day. 






We filled the birdcages with summery blue scabious and blousy peonies. Stuffed full of herbs, heather, eucalyptus and feverfew, you couldn't help but love them.

I really liked the mixture of the two designs that the bride chose, as we created birdcages for half the tables and lots of gorgeous vintage jars for the other half. I always think that's great way to add interest with your wedding flowers, as I don't think every table has to be the same.

The jars were filled with a similar selection of flowers and books personal to the bride & groom were used to add height and interest to the whole design!

I think your'll have to agree it's all just a bit delicious!

Pettibone Heaven!

We have long been fans of the fabulous wedding dress designer Claire Pettibone and therefore were in dress heaven as one of our Brides chose a Pettibone number to get married in! The setting was a picturesque village deep in the Wiltshire countryside. Even though the weather wasn't at it's British best, one couldn't help falling in love with the whole day!

We filled the Church with beautifully scented peonies and David Austin 'Juliet' roses which were just delicious! Long arrangements of palest pink hydrangea and creamy stocks sat high up on the windowsills!

It wasn't a massive Church but tall arrangements of pale lilac and ivory delphinium helped create a fresh feel!

Jugs of peonies, stocks and distinctive peach avalanche roses filled the corners of the Church and it really was a glorious haze of flowers.

The reception was held in the gardens of the Brides parents home. The marquee had a wonderfully distinctive style and the Bride had certainly put some hard work in!

Now I know we talk about falling love with this and falling in love with that ~ but seriously!! How can anyone not like this! It really did feel like an extravagant dollop of summer sunshine in a rather beautiful vintage jug!
